I don’t know about you but I am a huge Sephora fan. I am like a little kid in a candy store. I could literally spend hours inside the store trying on all the beautiful products! But of course I hate paying full price and I love saving money wherever I can. I can honestly say I no longer pay full price for anything at Sephora and I want to share with you how anyone can always save money at Sephora!
Step 1: Become a beauty insider!
The first step is to sign up to become a beauty insider. It is Sephora’s free membership and it is soooo worth it. As a beauty insider, you get 1 to 1.5 points for every dollar you spend depending on what level you reach. You also get a free gift on your birthday and you get special discounts throughout the year.
Step 2: ONLY shop during the beauty insider sale
Sephora usually has a sale twice a year where beauty insiders get discounts. Lately they have been having more sales throughout the year but usually it’s two. As a beauty insider, you will get a 10% off coupon to use. Only shop during this sale and use the 10% off coupon. You can use the coupon in store or online. Now if you do shop online, definitely use Rakutan (formally Ebates). They give you cash back just for shopping through their link. I have gotten up to 10% cash back! Definitely worth using and its free!
Step 3: If you want more of a discount..
10% off is a pretty good discount especially if you don’t shop at Sephora often. If that is the case, just follow steps 1 and 2 only. Now if you want more of a discount and use a lot of products from Sephora, you will need to spend a bit more money but I guarantee you it will be worth it. What you do is during one of the sales where you get 10% off, you will need to spend $350 or spend that amount during the year and you will then be upgraded to become a VIB member which is the next level up. I know $350 is a lot of money but you can buy for friends and family at the same time (this is what I do and that is how I first became a Rouge member). Once you spend the $350 in a calendar year and become a VIB, you will start getting 15% off during the sales!
If 15% off is more than enough for you and spending $350 is your max budget, stop at steps 1-3. Do not spend more than your budget. I repeat, do not spend more than your budget! Living a glam life means living a fabulous life within your means. There is no point of looking and feeling great if your bank account is at zero.
Step 4: Even more discounts and always get free shipping!
This last step is how you can get 20% off. To get these discounts you will need to be a VIB Rouge member by spending $1000 in a calendar year but again, make sure you only spend that amount during the sales where you get 15%, this way you will qualify to be a rouge member and save some money. As a rouge member, you get everything a VIB member would get plus you always get free shipping, 20% off during the sales, unlimited makeovers, early access to sales and new products (great benefit since many of the good products sell out during sales), and a free brow wax for your birthday. I never thought I would be a Rouge member as spending $1000 in a calendar year is a lot of money. I would never be able to spend this much but every year I still become a Rouge member and this is how I do it. I buy products not only for myself but for my friends and family during the sales. This way we can all share the benefits of the discount! I literally message everyone when I get the email from Sephora saying a sale is coming and I take their orders. I have even added my friend’s and family’s mailing addresses to my Sephora account so I can just ship things directly to them instead of meeting up. This has made things super simple.
Bonus tips:
Before buying a products, always get a sample first to see if you like it. There is not point spending money on a product that doesn’t work for you. You are also saving time by not having to return the item. Make sure you get multiple samples to make sure it really works for you as I found using something once isn’t long enough to test any product.
Sign up for the Sephora emails to stay up to date when items go on sale. Sephora has a huge sale section online and they always add new items to the sale so it is important to be the first to know when items are posted because all the good things sell out! I got my amazing curling iron and hairdryer on sale plus had an additional 20% off!!!
If it is your first time trying to get to Rouge status, try to get it earlier in the years since once you reach the minimum spend, you become a Rouge member for the rest of that year and the following year. So almost 2 years of the benefits of being Rouge.
Last tip is to always use Rakutan when shopping online. I just checked today and Rakutan is giving 5% cash back on all Sephora orders! I also use Rakutan when I shop on Amazon and many other stores. Definitely sign up for this!
