Todays post is on my baby’s eczema skincare routine. My baby has suffered from severe eczema since he was 2 months old. At one point I had to bring him to the hospital as he had a terrible flare over his entire face and body. Since he was 4 months old, he was using a strong prescription cortisone cream daily and sometimes even twice a day and the rashes would never completely go away. The over the counter low dose cortisones never worked in the past. I have tried every single eczema cream on the market and nothing worked. If the bottle had eczema labeled on it, I bought it. I even bought all organic clothes and towels for him. After a lot of trial and error, I have found the perfect combination that works for my baby. I can happily say he is no longer on prescription cortisone cream! Below I will share with you worked for my baby. Remember that everyone’s skin is different and that it is important that you speak with your doctor to see if it will work for you! See pictures and video below for before and after
Here are some photos from before:
The eczema started like this

Then it started to get really bad

Over time it started to get better.
Watch my full skincare routine video below for how his skin looks now!
Toner
The first step in the routine is using a toner. With eczema, there is a breakdown of the skins barrier so bacteria can easily get into the skin and cause infections. So it is very important to keep the skin clean and hydrated. I like using toner first because it helps to clean the skin and remove any drool that is stuck on the face. I also using these organic cotton pads to apply the toner. I love this toner because it is natural and alcohol free. Also I usually buy the toner during Wholefoods beauty sale and get it for 25% off.
Facial oil
After the face is cleaned with the toner, I apply an organic facial oil. I love this Just Ingredients facial serum. It is made of jojoba oil, frankincense essential oil, tangerine essential oil, and grapefruit essential oil and everything is all organic. Jojoba oil most similar to your skins natural oils and the other essential oils all help with inflammation and kill bacteria on the skin. This oil has been a game changer. This helped my babies skin drastically. I noticed a difference in the redness after one application. This oil is expensive so I am currently working on trying got make my own as it is cheaper to buy all the ingredients separately. I apply this oil 6 times a day. Morning and night, and before and after his 2 naps.
Body lotion
After I apply his facial oil, I slather on body lotion. This body lotion is extremely moisturizing but not very heavy. This really helps with any dry patches and since I started using this cream, my baby has not had any flares on his body. Sometimes he will get a little dry patch but once I apply this lotion on it, it goes away in a day or two. I apply this lotion morning and night. The best place to buy this cream is at Shoppers drugmart as they usually will have it on sale for 20% so wait for a sale.
Barrier cream
Meal times is when his face can get the most irritated and I have learned that it is super important to apply a barrier cream before meals. After doing a lot of research, I love this non petroleum jelly cream. Since this is before meals, I wanted to get something I knew would be safe incase he got any in his mouth. This cream is also very affordable. I find that you can usually find it on sale at any drugstore for a couple of dollars. Walmart usually has it on sale for $5.
Baby wipes
After his meal, I wipe his face right away to make sure there is not food left on his skin. I use to use a wet cloth but now I use a baby wipe first. It really helps if you have a messy eater. I was against using baby wipes on my baby’s face because of all the chemicals in wipes until I found these wipes. These wipes are made of just water and a little bit of fruit extract. You can usually find these on sale from Amazon or Walmart.
Healing Spray
Once his face his wiped, I spray his cheeks with this healing spray. This way any bacteria will be killed and the spray will help his body naturally heal. This spray is also great on cuts, rashes or anything that needs to heal and it is non toxic and baby safe! I have a coupon code for this if you need it. just leave a comment below.
Organic cotton cloth
Once the healing spray has been absorbed, I do a quick wipe with a warm wet organic cotton cloth to make sure I did not leave any food on his skin. I love these wipes as they are soft and easy to clean. They are also a lot cheaper than buying organic cotton towels.
Repair cream
After the final wipe with a cloth, I apply this repair cream very liberally on his cheeks. This repair cream has zinc and copper which helps with killing bacteria and helping the skin to heal. This cream was recommenced by my sons’s Nurse practitioner who specializes in dermatology. Like the body lotion above, Shoppers drugmart is the best place to by this creams as they usually have 20% off.
Sunblock
Before heading out in the sun, I make sure to apply sunblock on my baby’s face .Finding a non toxic sunscreen that was safe for babies and wouldn’t irritate my baby’s eczema was difficult but I love this one. It has worked well with my baby’s skin and has not irritated it.
I know this was a longer post but I hope you found the information useful. Don’t forget to leave a comment below!
